chook1Here’s an astonishing fabrication of truth by chookwatcher and his clan.

A new member of the chookwatcher conglomerate, writing for Pungent&Pen, criticised Brian & Bobbie Houston of Hillsong with the most outrageous article. A regular at chookwatcher sites added this article to the thread.

In response to the article’s glaringly inaccurate accusations regarding Brian’s views on marriage and the gay lifestyle, a commenter gave the following response…

‘Not sure if your post is 100% fair. I guess it is designed for maximum impact if it was on fb.

He [Brian Houston] has made his position clear on this matter.

“I also live by my own convictions, and hold to traditional Christian thought on gay lifestyles and gay marriage. I do believe God’s word is clear that marriage is between a man and a woman. The writings of the apostle Paul in scripture on the subject of homosexuality are also clear, as I have mentioned in previous public statements.

Hillsong Church welcomes ALL people but does not affirm all lifestyles. Put clearly, we do not affirm a gay lifestyle and because of this we do not knowingly have actively gay people in positions of leadership, either paid or unpaid. I recognise this one statement alone is upsetting to people on both sides of this discussion, which points to the complexity of the issue for churches all over the world.”’

So the commenter has quoted verbatim Brian’s clarification of his position.

It’s rather clear, as the commenter states, what Brian is telling us. He holds to traditional Christian thought on gay lifestyles and marriage, and affirms that God’s Word is clear on marriage – that it is between a man and a woman.

This is obviously stating that marriage should be heterosexual in the Christian and Biblical context. There is no ambiguity here. This would be totally in line with Pentecostal and Assemblies of God teaching and doctrine.

Truth rejected

But chookwatcher, rather than accept this qualifying statement, rejects it and fabricates his own argument against it based on the memes and narrative he has already manufactured in a series of articles on his sites.

Here’s what chookwatcher says to the commenter:

‘“He has made his position clear on this matter.”

We agree, Brian Houston and Bobbie Houston have clearly demonstrated in thought, word and deed that they for same-sex marriage. And if you have a problem with them holding such anti-Christian views, you’re just someone who holds to “traditional Christian” values and are dumb enough to believe God’s Word is clear on this matter.’

This is a really disingenuous fabrication of what Brian Houston has declared in the statement issued on his own Hillsong website for all to see and read.

To reiterate, chookwatcher makes the false declaration, signed off in his own pseudonym, that Brian and Bobbie Houston ‘have clearly demonstrated in thought, word and deed that they are for same-sex marriage.’

Therefore, according to chookwatcher fakery, anyone who holds to traditional Christian values is opposed to Hillsong, which is such a puerile, futile and very empty argument, given that Brian has very plainly stated, in writing, that they hold to traditional Christian values on marriage.

Researching their own narrative

Chookwatcher goes on…

‘You’re probably assuming how we came to this conclusion…

It’s called research.

When you start to research Brian Houston’s theology and behaviour on such important issues, you start recognizing the behaviour and tactics of compulsive liars such as Brian Houston. It is amazing to see people like you defend such frauds when all you need to do is open up your bible and start discerning how quick Houston is prepared to lie to millions of people about God.’

So Brian posts a clarification of his position that exactly matches and affirms the Biblical position on traditional Christian marriage, and, indeed, on gay relationships, and chookwatcher calls Brian a liar.

You can only come to the conclusion that chookwatcher, obviously, does not agree with the Biblical perspective on marriage being between a man and a woman, or on gay relationships.

What do they believe, then? What do they teach? What do they research?

Brian makes it abundantly clear to the global community in his statement that, Biblically, Christian marriage is exclusively between a man and a woman – a husband and his wife – and chookwatcher’s response is to accuse Brian of being ‘prepared to lie to millions of people about God.’

Then he calls Brian a ‘fraud’ for clearly stating the Scriptural position on marriage and homosexuality.

Blind to truth

You can only surmise that chookwatcher and his fellow pseudonyms are so blind to the very obvious truth presented before them that they openly refuse to accept it when it shouts out to them, to the degree that they are prepared to compromise their own position to make an erroneous point.

Either that, or they actually do believe that gay marriage is acceptable Biblically. It’s one or the other. Brian made his position plain. If you are against this position, you are either fabricating truth or believing the opposite.

The clear reason for their confused argument is the reluctance on chookwatcher’s part to admit he got something wrong with one of his favourite memes and his refusal to correct the error he has made.

He has built a narrative he wants the world to believe, but which has been conclusively refuted.

The other interesting thing to note here is that chookwatcher adds ‘we’ to the statement he makes – ‘we’ being all those who are represented in the one pseudonym for multiple persons that makes up ‘chookwatcher‘.

I mean, do all of the chookwatcher ‘team’ actually go along with this rather obvious misrepresentation of what Brian has said?
