You see, the answer to sin isn’t condemnation. It’s righteousness, and righteousness only comes by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation comes by grace from the Father. It has nothing to do with who we are or what we’ve done. It is a free gift granted by God and accessed by faith that comes by hearing the Word of Christ.
When people set themselves up as judges of the condition of others and only condemn them without pronouncing the solution they become mere finger-pointers and not people who can produce the answer.
We were never called to preach condemnation. Jesus sent us all to preach the gospel, which is the good news. He sent disciples to call the world to repent because the kingdom of God is near. Repentance is a change of heart, mind and will that causes us to turn to Christ away from our former sinful life.
That change comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, at which point righteousness is accredited to us.
What is the gospel? It is the good news that Jesus has paid the price of our sin at the cross, being crucified for us, dying our death for us, being buried in the grave for us, and rising from death for us so that we too can be raised in Him.
At this time of year we as Christians celebrate the birth of Christ. We celebrate the incarnation of the Living Word who became flesh. He is the answer. We celebrate the coming of the answer.
The question is how are we able to be reconciled to the Father? There is only one way, and that is through God’s grace and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Propitiation, the exchange, the substitute who took our place and made the way clear for us to turn from sin to righteousness.
It is not our righteousness. It is His. And it is accredited by faith. This is the message God has entrusted to us. The good news.
John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
